This was the first weekend in a while that I've been able to enjoy myself. My mom's been having a lot of health emergencies come up, and she's had two surgeries in the last week. My brother and I were also under quarantine because we tested positive for H1N1. We're feeling better, but the dang virus really took a toll on our lungs. We still have a nasty cough.

Today was very busy. I met some family at Target, where we did some serious shopping for tonight's Halloween party. I have never seen that place so packed. Of course, I usually go right before the place is closing. While I was grabbing various odds and ends for my costume, I found a few versions of ROTF. I was going to get the special Bumblebee version to go with my Optimus DVD cover, but decided to not to, so I just got the simple 2-disk edition. I haven't been able to open it yet, but I am going to tomorrow.

Also, since there were so many college football games yesterday, there was a flyover of two F-16s and two F-22s. I was in the car with my little brother, and we heard this loud roar overhead. My head jerked over to my brother, and I said, "Can you hear that? Is that what I think it is?" Fighter jets have a very loud, distinctive sound. We looked out the window, and sure enough, there they were. I was literally bouncing with excitement. The nearby Air Force Base is too small to have F-22s, so that was a really rare sight.

My costume was a 1950's housewife. I had an I Love Lucy-ish dress on that I made a while back, green with white polka dots, and I pulled my hair into a bun. Having naturally red hair helped quite a bit with trying to imitate Lucille Ball. The party was fun. We had a hit with the huge nacho bar. I had a lot of fun playing with my niece (who had her first birthday on Monday) and my friend's little boy and girl. My niece didn't know what to do with someone her same size; she kept pointing at my friend's daughter and saying "Oh wow wow wow!" She was so cute, she was dressed in the clothes off my old Raggedy Ann doll.

My sister, friend, and I have been conspiring for a while to set my brother up with my friend's sister. Tonight they finally met. Towards the end of the night, they were sitting together, and my brother put his favorite Red Socks blanket on her since the draft from the sliding door was making her cold. When I was getting ready to leave, he had his arm casually resting behind her on the couch. I think it was probably a success. We'll see.
